SLIPPERY ROCK - Clarion University junior guard Katrina Greer (Centre Hall/Penns Valley) scored eight points and in the process went over the 1,000-point plateau in the Golden Eagles 73-54 win at Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon.

Greer, who is the 14th player in school history and the second this season to go over 1,000 points, has 1,003 in her career. She is the first junior to reach 1,000 at Clarion since Heather Cigich in 2004, and her and Jessica Albanese, who recorded her 1,000th point in early January, become the first Golden Eagle teammates to record their 1,000th point in the same season since 1993 when Shannon Coakley and Amy Coon both went over 1,000.

Albanese led Clarion (18-8 overall, 8-4 PSAC-West) against Slippery Rock (7-20, 1-11) with 14 points, while Ashley Grimm added 13 points, six assists and four steals. Janelle Zabresky contributed 12 points and six rebounds, and Sara Pratt had seven points and seven rebounds.

Clarion closed the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 13-point, 31-18, halftime lead and quickly built the lead to as many as 26 midway through the second half.

KellyAnn Staudinger led Slippery Rock with 13 points, while Amanda Nero had 12.

Clarion returns to action Tuesday in the PSAC Playoffs. The Golden Eagles will play at California at 6 p.m.

NOTES - Clarion's 18 wins are tied for the sixth most in school history ... This is Clarion's first PSAC-West playoff appearance since 2005 but the 10th in head coach Gie Parsons 19 seasons at the school ... Parsons is now two wins shy of 400 in her career. She is 398-310 in her 27th year of coaching including eight years at Thiel College before coming to Clarion in 1990 ... Grimm now has 563 career assists, the most in school history. She needs nine more to move into the Top 10 in PSAC history ... Greer is shooting 90.4 percent from the free-throw line, and Clarion is shooting 79.7 percent as a team from the free-throw line.
